JC - rare patterns are going to come from discovery, so some RNG involved, but profitable if you get lucky and get the good patterns early. Major change that effects all the gathering professions - volatiles have been replaced by Spirit of Harmony, which drops from everything, (or motes of Harmony, which can be combined) which has major impact on several professions.
